Bertrand Piccard, psychiatrist and President of the Foundation, pioneer of ultra-light aviation, balloonist and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador (UNFPA), strives to combine the science inherited from his family with his desire to explore the great adventure of human life. He is currently working on a new project, Solar Impulse, an airplane that is powered solely by solar energy.
Brian Jones, vice-president of the Foundation, discovered a passion for aeronautics at a very young age. He served in the Royal Air Force for 13 years before deciding to enter the pharmaceutical industry, then becoming an entrepreneur. In 1986, he began his love affair with balloon flying and became an instructor in 1989.
Following the first round-the-world tour in a balloon in 1999, Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones both became internationally renowned conference lecturers, decorated and distinguished in numerous countries. |
