  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations or associations carry out actions in the field or conduct research programs.
  • The Winds of Hope Foundation organizes and funds national programs that are administered and coordinated by the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO/AFRO) in cooperation with the health ministers of the concerned countries.
  • The International No-Noma Federation, created in 2003 at the initiative of the Winds of Hope Foundation, brings together the majority of these organizations (NGOs, associations, foundations) and also acts as a liaison with authorities. It covers over half of the world populations concerned.
  • To date, activities in the fight against Noma have been implemented mainly in Africa in the following countries: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Senegal, Togo and Zambia.
  • At present, it has not been possible to focus on Asia and Latin American due to insufficient funds and the small number of organizations that are active in the fight against Noma
